The following are common endings. They are not options on a menu, but examples of how to apply the three axes. The GM should use them as models when resolving an ending invented by the party.

Example 1 — Maintain the Seal (Qi: Keep / Sansin: Unresolved / Knowledge: Any)

The exorcisms and purification performed during the party's ascent clear away the tainted qi. Sorcerers in Hanyang can now use their power without harming their own bodies. Yet the qi remains trapped in the mountain, and the Korean Peninsula stays barren. Joseon survives, but does not recover.

A party that has reached Awakening knows the truth: this is not a solution, only a postponement. Someday the seal will weaken again.

Example 2 — Release the Seal (Qi: Empty / Sansin: Continues / Knowledge: Decisive)

Qi floods back across the Korean Peninsula. Dry wells fill, dying rice fields revive, and broken lineages of sorcery begin again. People call the party heroes who saved the nation.

Ignorance: The party believes it did the right thing. Yet on the way down the mountain, they cannot shake the feeling that something behind them watches for a very long time.

Awakening: The party knows. He succeeded once before. Now he is free again. Next time, he will not make the same mistake.

Example 3 — Kill Sansin (Qi: Break / Sansin: Annihilated / Knowledge: Any)

The moment Sansin dissolves, the qi he contained scatters with him. Sorcery across the land goes dark, talismans turn to ash, and Sain Swords become nothing more than dull iron. Gods, lesser spirits, and dokkaebi all disappear.

What remains is a Joseon inhabited only by humans. Famine and plague still exist, but now they are simply nature rather than divine curses.

The party is remembered as those who killed sorcery in the world. Even their names will soon be forgotten—because no sorcery remains to remember them.

Example 4 — Inherit the Divine Seat (Qi: Transfer / Sansin: Put to Rest or Annihilated / Knowledge: Decisive)

The qi passes to a new master. Qi returns to the Korean Peninsula, but now the one who governs it is not a god, but someone who once was human.

The inheritor cannot descend the mountain. They are the mountain now. Their companions leave them behind and descend, unsure whether they saved a friend or created a new god.

A party that has reached Awakening knows this: Sansin, too, once cared for humanity.

Example 5 — Provincial Division (Qi: Kept and Dispersed / Sansin: Self Annihilated, Fragments Continue / Knowledge: Awakening Required)

Sansin is no longer one being. He is split into eight fragments and buried beneath the mountains of eight regions. Without a unified self, he can never attempt the same act again.

The qi remains contained, but it is dispersed more evenly. Some regions begin to revive while others remain dead. Joseon is neither wholly saved nor wholly abandoned.

Centuries later, something may awaken again in one of those mountains. But it will no longer be Sansin.

Example 6 — Exile to the Afterlife (Qi: Remove / Sansin: Unresolved / Knowledge: Awakening Required)

HAN-SAN disappears—from maps, from memory, from the world. Only a flat plain remains where the mountain once stood.

The tainted qi disappears. So do the lesser spirits and the twisted passage to the afterlife. Joseon becomes safe—and permanently poor in qi.

The party saved the world but recovered nothing. Those who choose this ending are usually the ones who decide that losing nothing more matters more than taking back what was lost.

Example 7 — Reunite the Evil Heart and Pass Judgment (Qi: Depends / Sansin: Put to Rest or Annihilated / Knowledge: Awakening Required)

This is the most dangerous and perhaps the most just path. Sansin without the Evil Heart cannot fully remember what he did. Punishing him in that state is like punishing someone else.

The party restores him to wholeness. In that instant, Sansin once again becomes a complete divine being, and the seal can no longer contain him. The GM should be ready for combat at this point. A whole Sansin is stronger than anything else in Stage 9.

If the party defeats him, only then has a true judgment been passed.

If they lose—he is free. And this time, humans are the ones who set him loose.

Example 8 — Call Upon Sanje (All Axes Deferred)

The party asks the heavens. The heavens do not answer.

Sanje's punishment was, from the beginning, “Let humans decide.” Refusing to decide is therefore refusing the punishment and refusing Heaven's Mandate. The silence itself is the answer: you decide.

The GM gives the party nothing here. Sansin remains bound, the mountain remains twisted, and only time passes.

A party that descends without making any decision will later hear that someone else has begun climbing the mountain.
